About

Brief history

Computer Advise is a show produced by me, ITshowhoster. This show is about tips, tricks, downloads, and more, for, but not limited to, the Microsoft Windows operating system. This show was formally known as "The Information Technology Show" ("The IT Show", in short).

The IT show started on 9 June 2008 when we created and uploaded our very first episode, "The IT show #1 - Windows Start-up sounds" on YouTube. However, it has been removed, as we wanted to change the name of our show in the third quarter of 2008, when The IT Show was officially renamed to "Computer Advise". The reason is simple - we want our show name to be unique. Following that, on 7 November 2008, we uploaded our trailer, which is currently unlisted on YouTube.

On 13 October 2013, we removed Blip from our distribution platform due to a unforeseen situation that happened. All episodes were unavailable to view on Blip soon after.

Currently, Computer Advise is active on YouTube, with episodes periodically uploaded. However, due to real-life situations, we cannot provide a fixed schedule for the release of our episodes.

Logo history

The Computer Advise logo has been undergoing changes since the release of our first episode. Read on for the details of each change.

Original (unreleased) logo

Original (unreleased) logo

This logo was the first ever Computer Advise logo created by ITshowhoster. The original logo was created in Wordpad, which was later converted into an image using The Gimp, an image-editing software. The text was in italics. This logo was not released to the general public, as a newer logo (the first generation logo) was created before the release of our first episode.

First generation logo (episodes 1 - 4)

First generation logo

This logo was the second Computer Advise logo created by ITshowhoster, entirely in The Gimp. It inherits the "Tips, Tricks, Downloads & More!" tagline from our original logo. It also has a black-to-white gradient that spans from the middle of the "Computer Advise" words, to the bottom of the letter "p". The words "Computer Advise", together with the tagline, was still in italics.

Second generation logo (episodes 5 - 14)

Second generation logo

This logo was the third Computer Advise logo created by ITshowhoster, also entirely in The Gimp. The tagline was removed, with the words "Computer Advise" in regular form. This logo was intended to give viewers a cleaner look and feel of the Computer Advise show.

Third generation logo (episodes 15 - )

Third generation logo

Inspired by current design concepts, this logo was the fourth and latest Computer Advise logo created by ITshowhoster. The most significant difference between this logo and previous ones was that it was created entirely in Inkscape, a software for editing vector images. This means that the logo can be rendered into any size, without compromising on quality. Design-wise, this logo bought back our tagline, but with a coding-inspired flavour. It also inherited the characteristics of the previous two generation logos - a rectangle is present behind the words "Computer Advise", but instead of a gradient rectangle, we opted for an outline instead.
